This program focuses on protecting or restoring forested habitat for the federally-listed Indiana Bat and the Copperbelly Watersnake in the Indiana counties of the St. Joseph River Watershed (east).
Landowners who choose to enter into the program can elect to sell a permanent conservation easement on their existing tracks or areas they would like to plant trees. Easement payments will be based on appraisal of the property.
The program will utilize conservation practices identified in NRCS specification for Tree/Shrub Establishment, Upland Wildlife Habitat Management, and Wetland Restoration. Applications for this program are accepted annually.
