2026 Indiana Master Naturalist

Pokagon State Park, the Steuben County Soil and Water Conservation District (SWCD), and the Friends of Pokagon have partnered to offer a 2026 Indiana Master Naturalist (IMN) workshop in the spring of 2026.  The mission of the IMN program is to bring together natural resource specialists with adult learners to foster an understanding of Indiana’s plants, water, soils, and wildlife, as well as promote natural resource volunteer service within the State of Indiana.  It can provide participants with many hands-on opportunities to learn about our Hoosier natural resources and provide a way to share that knowledge, along with their life experiences, through volunteer service.

Sessions for the workshop begin at the Pokagon State Park Nature Center at 10:00 a.m. on March 14th. There are ten sessions approximately every other Saturday and one Wednesday evening session in July. Sessions will meet at either the Pokagon Nature Center or at Swenson Lodge, located within Trine State Recreation Area, and each session covers a different topic presented by resource professionals in fields such as geology, wetland ecology, and herpetology.

The registration fee is $135, and it includes class materials, several guidebooks, and light refreshments at each session. Registration will ONLY be accepted between January 1, 2026, and February 6, 2026, or until the workshop is full. Payments must be made to the Steuben County SWCD office, located at 1220 N. 200 W, Suite L, Angola, IN, 46703.  Please note, the SWCD only accepts cash or check payments.
