With so many natural lakes in Steuben County, water quality is a hot-button issue for many people. Many lake residents are concerned with nutrient, sediment, and chemical loading of their local bodies of water, and they are working hard to get to the source. While there are some problem areas in the County’s agricultural industry, many producers are working hard to cut input costs (fertilizer) and keep their soil on their land. The Conservation Farming Legacies video series has been created to showcase the stories of Steuben County producers who are taking extra measures to address water quality issues both on their land and in nearby bodies of water. If you happen to know or meet any of the featured producers, please thank them for all that they do to further conservation in Steuben County.
Keep checking back for more videos. If you have a suggestion of a producer family to feature, please call Aimee Wentworth at the Steuben County SWCD office at (260) 665-3211 ext. 3.
