Tree Nursery Program

The Indiana Department of Natural Resources Tree Nursery Program offers seedlings to Indiana landowners.  Their mission is to grow and distribute to Indiana landowners high quality plant materials for conservation plantings.

Conservation plantings include plantings for timber, windbreaks, wildlife food and habitat, watershed and soil protection, reclamation, and education.

The IDNR Tree Nursery produces and distributes the highest quality stock that knowledge and resources permit.  They produce a diverse group of species from the best seed sources available, which include progeny-tested seed orchard sources when available.  The IDNR mixes all seed lots to ensure each landowner obtains the highest quality and most diverse stock possible.

The Steuben County Soil and Water Conservation District along with the Steuben County Purdue Cooperative Extension Service offer a tree pick up service for Steuben County residents.  If interested, visit the IDNR Tree Seedling Nursery webpage  and either complete the IDNR seedling order form or order online using their online service.  Both can be found online.

If you would like for the District to pick up your order, see the tree sample order form below for 3rd party pick up instructions.

On this form, check “3RD PARTY PICK UP” and under County/Agency write:
