Stormwater

Students will learn about watersheds, stormwater, the difference between point-source and non-point source pollution, how pollutants can affect our water resources, and explore ways to prevent stormwater from becoming polluted.

This lesson includes ONE interactive demonstration:

Enviroscape Model:

This interactive demonstration uses the Enviroscape model; a 3D model designed to replicate a watershed. The model mimics realistic runoff conditions considering changing topography, impervious surfaces, and various land uses. Students will add pollutants to the model (coco powder, soy sauce, Kool-Aid powder, sprinkles) and use a spray bottle to simulate rainfall to observe how stormwater carries pollutants to neighboring waterways.

NOTE- Steuben County SWCD Staff will present the Environscape Model
