Students will learn about the parts of a tree, their functions, discuss what trees need to grow, what they provide for wildlife, and what they provide for us.
This lesson includes THREE interactive activities:
Tree Factory Activity:
This interactive activity allows students to see how a tree works like a factory by acting out the parts of a tree.
Tree Life Cycle Activity:
This interactive activity allows students to act out the life cycle of a tree.
“Tree Cookies” Activity: Uncovering the Story of Trees:
This interactive activity uses “tree cookies” to explore the life history and ecological narrative of trees. They will identify the many layers that contribute to a tree’s story, including its growth, health, and the environmental influences throughout its lifespan. The students will decorate and take home their tree cookies.
