Wetlands

Students will learn about the function and importance of wetland ecosystems and how human actions impact them.

This lesson includes ONE interactive demonstration:

Wetland Demonstration:

This interactive demonstration helps students visualize the natural functions of wetlands such as how they work to filter water and prevent flooding. Using materials such as modeling clay to mimic landforms and create elevation, and sponges to represent the wetlands. Students can use a stopwatch to compare the time it takes the water to drain with and without the wetland sponges.
