Steuben County Awarded FY 22-23 LARE Grants

The Indiana Department of Natural Resources Division of Fish and Wildlife has announced the fiscal year 2022-2023 Land and River Enhancement (LARE) grant recipients. The Steuben County SWCD is excited and extremely grateful that our Fawn River and Pigeon Creek Watershed Land Treatment Project Grant applications were both selected to receive funding. These grants provide cost-share and incentive payments to land users (i.e., landowners or long-term lease holders) to apply or construct practices on their land that reduce the amount of sediment and nutrients entering lake/rivers. Eligible practices include critical area plantings, field windbreaks, filter strips, grassed waterways, pasture and hay plantings, pollinator plots, tree plantings, and water and sediment control basins, among others.

For more information or to see if you qualify for cost-share assistance to implement conservation practices on your Steuben County property, please call our office at (260) 665-3211 ext. 3 or email us at steubenswcd@gmail.com.
